Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 15, 2008

Vermont Cookie Love is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect customer information in an effort to improve your shopping experience and to communicate with you about our products and promotions. We do not share, sell or rent your personal information to third parties. As described in this policy, we do share your information with our partners in order to provide you with particular products and services.

This policy describes the personal information we collect about you, how we use it and who we share it with. It also includes the choices you can make about how we collect and use your information. If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please contact us.

If our information practices change, we will update this privacy policy. You can tell if the policy has changed by checking the revision date that appears at the top of this policy. You may exercise your choices about how we collect and use your information at any time.

What information does Vermont Cookie Love collect and how is it used?

Registration & Orders

If you purchase a product from us, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on our registration and order form. You must provide contact information (such name, email address, zip code, phone number and a password) and financial information (such as credit card number and expiration date). We use your personal information to process your order, send you e-mails to confirm your order or to contact you if we have other questions regarding your order or purchase. Registration also allows you to check your order status and view your account history.

Promotional Emails

If you choose to sign up for special offer e-mails (during registration or at the bottom of our pages) we will periodically send you promotional e-mails. These e-mails do not contain third party advertising and are exclusively used to inform you of Vermont Cookie Love specials, sales and new products.

Out of respect for your privacy, we present the option not to receive these types of communications. Please see the “Promotional E-mail Opt-out” section.

If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about a product on our site, we will ask you for your e-mail address and your friend’s. We will automatically send your friend a one-time e-mail inviting him or her to visit the site. Your email address is used only to let the recipient know who sent the email. Neither your e-mail address or your friend’s e-mail address will be used for any other purpose.

A cookie is a small data file that Web sites often store on your computer's hard drive when you visit their sites. We use cookies on this site but do not store personally identifiable information in your cookie.

We use both session ID cookies and/or persistent cookies. A session ID cookie expires when you close you browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser’s help file.

We use cookies in order to improve your shopping experience by keeping track of your order and site preferences.

If you reject cookies, you may still use our site, but you will not be able to place orders or access your account.

Log Files

Like most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system and date/time stamp data.

We use this information (which does not identify individual users) to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track movements around the site and to gather general demographic information about our customer base.

We do not use IP address logs to track your session or your behavior on our site.

Clear Gifs

Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages.

We use clear gifs in our HTML-based e-mails to let us know which e-mails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
